Polygons are two-dimensional shapes composed of line

segments.  They have no gaps and go overlaps.  Because

they are composed of only line segments, they have NO

curves.  To close, the smallest possible polygon is a three

sided polygon called a triangle.  The first eight polygons

are named below:

3 sided  triangle                  4 sided  quadrilateral

5 sided pentagon                6 sided hexagon

7 sided heptagon                8 sided octagon

9 sided nonagon               10 sided decagon

They go on and on; however, you only have to know the

first eight polygons.
