EE.1 Evaluate Exponential Expressions (mod)
Use the properties of exponents to simplify the expressions.Answers should not have any negative exponents. Fractions shouldbe reduced.
When like bases are multiplied together the powers ofthose like bases are added to get the new power.
When like bases are divided the powers of those likebases are subtracted (top-botom) to get the new power.
When a power is raised to a power those powers aremultiplied to get the new power.
Let's review the properties of exponents, shall we?
Evaluate Exponential Expressions
Example: 3x2•2x

The bases are the variables "x" one has a power of 2and the other has a power of 1.
The new power is 2 + 1 = 2 + 1 = 3
When like bases are multiplied together the powers of
those like basses are added to get the new power.
The Multiplication Rule for Exponents
Answer:
6 x 3

Example:

The bases are the variables "m" the top has a power of 1and the bottom has a power of 3.
The new power is 1 - 3 = -2 on the topor a +2 on the bottom.
When like bases are divided the powers of those likebases are subtracted (top-bottom) to get the new power.
The Division Rule for Exponents
Answer:
m 2
1
When a power is raised to a power those powers aremultiplied to get the new power.

Example:

The two powers are -2 and 2
The new power is -2 • 2 = -4
The Power to Power Rule
