Hint 1: Get rid of the -2 on the right-hand side
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
to have x on its own. You can do it by adding2 to both sides of the formula or by moving-2 from right-hand side to left-hand side(Remember to change the - sign to +)
y = x - 2
x = y + 2
y = x - 2
y + 2 = x
+2
+2
We made x the subject
Add 2 to both sides
Swap sides
Hint 1: Get rid of the -4 on the right-hand side
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
to have x on its own. You can do it by adding4 to both sides of the formula or by moving-4 from right-hand side to left-hand side(Remember to change the - sign to +)
p = x - 4
x = p + 4
p = x - 4
p + 4 = x
+4
+4
We made x the subject
Add 4 to both sides
Swap sides
Hint 1: Get rid of the -3 on the right-hand side
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
to have x on its own. You can do it by adding3 to both sides of the formula or by moving-3 from right-hand side to left-hand side(Remember to change the - sign to +)
2m = x - 3
2m + 3 = x
x = 2m + 3
2m = x - 3
+3
+3
We made x the subject
Add 3 to both sides
Swap sides
Hint 1: Get rid of the 2 on the right-hand side
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
to have x on its own. You can do it by taking2 away from both sides or by moving +2 from right-hand side to left-hand side(Remember to change the + sign to -)
3t + 3 = x + 2
3t + 3 = x + 2
3t + 1 = x
x = 3t + 1
-2
-2
We made x the subject
Take away 2
from both sides
Swap sides
Hint 1: First we have to have the 3x and x term             on one side of the formula. We can do it              by taking x away from both sides or              by moving the x term from righ-hand side              to left-hand side.           (Remember to change the + sign to -)
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
2x + 3y = x + 4
2x + 3y = x + 4
x + 3y = 4
x = 4 - 3y
-x
-3y
-3y
-x
We made x the subject
Take away 3y from
both sides to make
2x on its own
Take away xfrom both sides
Hint 1: Because the x is multiplied by 3 here in order
             to make x the subject we have to divide both
             sides of the formula by 3.

Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
 y = 3x
y/3 = x
x = y/3
÷3
y = 3x
÷3
Divide both sides by 3
We made x the subject
Swap sides
Hint 1: Because the x is multiplied by 5 here in order             to make x the subject we have to divide both             sides of the formula by 5.
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
 m = 5x
m/5 = x
x = m/5
÷5
m = 5x
÷5
Divide both sides by 5
We made x the subject
Swap sides
Hint 1: Because the x is multiplied by 3 here in order
             to make x the subject we have to divide both
             sides of the formula by 3.

Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
 2p = 3x
2p/3 = x
2p = 3x
x = 2p/3
÷3
÷3
Divide both sides by 3
We made x the subject
Swap sides
Hint 1: Because the x is multiplied by 5 here in order             to make x the subject we have to divide both             sides of the formula by 5.
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
 4y + 4 = 5x
4y + 4 = 5x
x =
4y + 4
÷5
5
4y + 4
5
= x
÷5
We made x the subject
Divide both sides by 5
Swap sides
Hint 1: Because the x is multiplied by 2p here in order             to make x the subject we have to divide both             sides of the formula by 2p.
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
 n = 2px
x = n/2p
n/2p = x
n = 2px
÷2p
÷2p
Divide both sides by 2p
We made x the subject
Swap sides
Hint 1: Get rid of the 3 on the right-hand side
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
to have 2x on its own. You can do it by taking3 away from both sides or by moving +3 from right-hand side to left-hand side(Remember to change the + sign to -)
3p + 2 = 2x + 3
3p + 2 = 2x + 3
x =
3p - 1 = 2x
3p - 1
2
-3
3p - 1
2
= x
-3
We made x the subject
Divide both sides by 2
to get x on its own
Swap sides
Take away 3from both sides
Hint 1: Get rid of the b on the right-hand side
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
to have x on its own. You can do it by takingb away from both sides of the formula or by moving the +b from right-hand side to left-hand side of the formula.(Remember to change the - sign to +)
y = ax + b
x =
y - b = ax
y - b
y = ax + b
-b
a
y - b
a
= x
-b
x is multiplied by a here,
so we have to divide
both sides by a
We made x the subject
Swap sides
Take away b
from both sides
Hint 1: Notice that you can write this formula as:
Rearrange the formula to make x the subject:
y = 1/2 x
y =
x
2
2y = x
x2
x = 2y
y =
x
2
x2
Multiply both sides by 2
We made x the subject
Swap sides
