Percent means out of 100 so 50% means 50 out of

100 or 50/100.  This simplifies to ½.  Since "of" means

multiply we can multiply by ½ or divide by its reciprocal

which is 2.

50% of 240 = 240 x ½ = 240 ÷ 2 =

Since 200% equals 2, the easy way to find 200% is to

multiply by 2.  Another way is 100% equals the number.

200% is twice as much so double it.

200% of 240 =

To find 10%, we can move the decimal one place left

because 10% equals 0.1  in decimal form or

in fraction form.

10% of 240 = 240 x 0.1 =

Because 20% is twice as much as 10%, we can find

10% and                 it.  We may also divide by 5 as it is

the reciprocal of the fraction              which also equals

20%.

20% of 240 =

Since 5% is one-half of 10%, to find 5%, find 10% first

and then divide by         .  Another way to find 5% is

to multiply by 0.05 which is 5% in decimal form or

divide by 20 the reciprocal of 1/20, the fraction that

equals 5%.  5% of 240 is              .

Since 1% equals 0.01, move the decimal       places

left to find 1%.  1% of 240 is            .

25% equals 0.25 which equals 25/100 which simplifies

to               .  We can multiply by its decimal form or

fraction form or divide by it reciprocal (which is 4).

25% of 240 = 240 x 0.25 = 240 x ¼ = 240 ÷ 4 =

Since 75% is three times as large as 25%, to find 75%

find 25% first and multiply it by            .

75% of 240 = 25% of 240 times 3 =

33⅓% equals 0.333... which equals  ⅓.  So if we

know what fraction it equals and its reciprocal (3),

we can divide by the reciprocal to find 33⅓%.

240 x 33⅓%  = 240 x ⅓  = 240 ÷ 3 =

Since 66⅔% is twice as large as 33⅓%, just find 33⅓%

first and double it.  66⅔% of 240 is                    .
